Spiritus Named to XPRIZE Carbon Removal Top 100 List

April 25, 2024

As revealed on April 24, 2024, Spiritus has been named as one of the Top 100 most promising carbon removal innovators by XPRIZE.
‍

Sponsored by the Musk Foundation, the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition launched in 2021 as a way to recognize and catalyze new solutions for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) at scale. More than 1,300 teams from 88 countries have joined the competition over its first four years.
‍

The Top 100 list is divided into 25 teams each in four categories that represent distinct and equally important CDR pathways: Air, Ocean, Land and Rocks. Spiritus’ selection after several years and multiple rounds of judging confirms its status as one of the top 25 Air CDR innovators in the world.
‍

XPRIZE will choose 20 Finalists from the Top 100 to demonstrate their ability to remove 1,000 tons of CO₂ from the air or oceans over the final year of the Carbon Removal competition, with the Grand Prize winner receiving $50M in April 2025.
